Since David Hockney’s pool scenes there has not been a more relative series of paintings to southern Californian culture. Nothing is more prolific in culture than a bludgeoning metropolis like Los Angeles. Its competing as international reputation of a great art center. And yet it pretends its never seen anything more startling than the paintings of a typical American high school. In Romancing the Creep, Zabet Pucket has built an body of work around investigations of psycho-sexual identity and female power. Subsuming the apparently contradictory tendencies of sexism at the moment: and the discovery of monsters in the inner self. As symbols of traits of the unconsciousness, Bestiality is the chance at differation. The Pictures are less a literal statement about bestiality, but rather a bait for reactionaries.
